It’s time for summer fun and spending time outdoors, whether it’s a stroll in the park, a food truck festival, or a backyard get-together. And as a wine lover, you don’t have to leave your favorite beverage at home. Here are some tips for enjoying your wine along with your summertime adventures.
Nothing beats the heat like a refreshing pitcher of sangria when it's very hot out. But a crisp white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or a beautiful rosé can also hit the spot. Chill any of these light and fruity wines, and you will find them perfect for summertime fun. Try a chilled light-bodied red such as a Beaujolais or a Pinot Noir for something a little different.
Summertime means food truck festivals and their diverse food styles can be exciting and interesting. But it can also be overwhelming when choosing a wine that will pair well with the choices. The above-mentioned wines pair well with many different foods, so any of them would be a good choice. Another one to consider would be a Zinfandel, which can hold a rich and robust BBQ or burger.
What’s the best way to transport your wine? It does pay to invest in a travel wine bag or cooler that will keep the wine at a good temperature which helps to preserve its flavor and freshness. If you’re going to an outdoor concert or picnic, you can even get a picnic bag set. Some wine bags include a small wine table to provide a secure base for the glasses and food.

And speaking of food, don’t forget the snacks to accompany your wine. Goat cheese pairs well with crisp whites. Add some cured meats, olives, crackers, or a baguette, and you have a perfect setup. Fresh fruit, as well as dried fruit, makes a great pairing, too. Grapes, sliced apples and pears, strawberries, and figs can be a wonderful complement to the flavors in the wine.
