A Brunch Pairing: Rise and Shine, Let’s Sip Some Wine!

We’ll take a mimosa, light on the OJ!

As the weather warms and the sweet smell of spring fill the air, there’s nothing better than gathering friends together for a lovely brunch. Add some delightful wines or refreshing cocktails to the conversation, laughs, and good food, and you have a perfect way to spend the day.

Hosting a brunch with friends doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are a few simple brunch ideas that can give you more time to enjoy your guests.

Say hello to spring with an easy asparagus quiche. Even though you can buy it all year round, the fresh, local asparagus will start appearing at farmer’s markets as soon as the weather warms up. This is one of our favorite asparagus quiche recipes, made with a store-bought pie crust, so it saves time and tastes just as delicious as a homemade crust. Finding a wine that pairs well with asparagus can be tricky, but a round and rich Graves from France’s Bordeaux region or a Chablis from Burgundy would be a perfect complement to this dish's tart and creamy flavors.

Creamy and delicious!

Don’t feel like cooking? How about a yogurt parfait? You can make this as simple or as fancy as you desire. The presentation is part of the great thing about this dish; you can use vintage style, authentic vintage, or contemporary parfait glasses -- and they don’t have to match. Serving the parfait family style in a wide parfait bowl also makes a beautiful presentation. You can even make this in advance and refrigerate overnight. This yogurt parfait recipe features mulled red wine syrup and bright Cara Cara oranges.

We promised easy, so instead of standing at the stove flipping pancakes, this baked blueberry pancake recipe is as delicious as it is simple. Choose a slightly sweet wine, such as sparkly prosecco, to pair with this dish. If you’re not looking forward to napping the rest of the day, pair it with a lower-alcohol sparkling wine such as a Moscato d’Asti.

Tangy and smokey - what more could you ask for?

A bagel and Lox spread? Select a variety of bagels, cream cheese, lox, nova, and smoked salmon. Substitute a variation on this theme, substituting dark Russian rye for bagels and goat cheese for cream cheese. Either way, add fresh dill, capers, olives, and tomatoes. Pairing this classic brunch spread with Boston Winery’s crisp, citrusy Shark in the Pond blend is perfect.
